Douglas Jennings Morgan, Jr. ("Dougie") left this world far too soon on April 29, 2023 at his home in Northern Virginia.
He was born in Wilmington, North Carolina on May 5, 1966 to Douglas Jennings Morgan, Sr. and Barbara Memory Morgan. Those local to his hometown likely first knew Dougie from his incredible athletic skills - he was most committed to his love for baseball and football, from elementary school age, through to Roland Grise Middle School, Hoggard High School (1984), and East Carolina University baseball (1988). Dougie always strived to be his best, living by the phrase, "The World is full of average people, you've got to be better than the average." His commitment to this phrase carried him through to his work in federal law enforcement. After graduating with his Bachelor's degree Criminal Justice from ECU in 1988 (and later his Master's Degree in 2017), Dougie pursued a life of sacrifice for the benefit of us all. He truly loved his profession in criminal investigations, intelligence, drug control, national security, and more. Dougie ("Biskit" to some) also loved all the committed and true brothers he met, bonded with, protected, and was protected by, along the way. You know who you are, and we thank you for the loving impact you had on his life. He retired in 2014, went back for more, and retired completely in December, 2022. Dougie built his own business, Morgan's Carolina 'Q, from the ground up, based on years-old recipes only his closest friends and family had been lucky enough to taste.
Doug was a Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend who loved and protected fiercely. He lived each and every day to the fullest, and anyone who was around him felt his love and passion for life and learning. He was always a "giver," and never a "taker." We are all so proud of him. Throughout his life, he had the extraordinary ability to push past mental and physical challenges and demons ordinary people could never face - but which ultimately overcame him.
As far as immediate family, Doug is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Pressley Morgan, and daughter, Taylor Elizabeth Morgan, as well as his father, Douglas Morgan, Sr., and sister, Kimberly Edwards. His extended family near and far miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life is anticipated in the coming months.
Donations may be made in Doug's honor to 1st H.E.L.P.
