As Southeast Director of the Association of Customs and HSI Special Agents (ACHSIA), Chris represents the Association’s members and chapters throughout the southeastern United States. In this role, he is committed to strengthening communication among members, supporting ACHSIA’s chapter directors, welcoming new retirees, and encouraging current Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) employees to join the Association. He is especially focused on preserving the fellowship developed through years of shared service and creating opportunities for current and former colleagues to build lasting connections.
Chris retired in 2014 following a 27-year federal law enforcement career that began as a Special Agent with the former U.S. Customs Service Office of Enforcement and culminated in his service as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) with Homeland Security Investigations. His assignments included California, Florida, Virginia, and New Jersey. As an ASAC in Newark, he directed a financial investigations division and oversaw complex financial, asset forfeiture, undercover, and multi-agency investigations.
Chris also served internationally as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Regional Attaché for Central America at the U.S. Embassy in Panama. In that position, he worked closely with U.S. ambassadors, embassy personnel, foreign governments, and international law enforcement partners throughout the region.
His commitment to public service also includes 25 years of military service. Chris began his military career as a U.S. Navy air traffic controller and later retired as a U.S. Army Counterintelligence Warrant Officer.
Chris holds a Ph.D. in Homeland Security Leadership and Policy and currently teaches criminology, homeland security, leadership, and transnational crime at the university level. He is also an International Coaching Federation (ICF)-credentialed professional coach who works with individuals and organizations in leadership development, communication, mentoring, and team performance.
Based in Ocala, Florida, Chris brings to ACHSIA extensive leadership experience, an educator’s commitment to sharing knowledge, and a coach’s focus on building strong relationships. He looks forward to helping strengthen membership and ensuring that the history, fellowship, and camaraderie of Customs and HSI remain strong for future generations.
