Born on January 9, 1936, in Appleton, AR, Jim, lovingly known as James Murel Wait, was a jokester extraordinaire. He had a knack for bringing smiles to faces and had a heart as big as his sense of humor. When he wasn't cracking jokes, Jim dedicated his time to various charitable organizations, spreading kindness wherever he went.
Survived by his adoring wife of 70 years, Virginia Anne Wait, and their children: James David Wait (Carole), Cheryl Lynn Berman (David), Cynthia Anne Wait, and Daughter-in-Law Lorraine, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, Jim was a pillar of love and support for his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Louise Wait, his father, James Murel Wait, his son Danny Lee Wait, his grandson, James Joseph Wait, and his siblings: Joyce Scofield, Janie Armendariz, and Johnny Sue Best.
Before he became a master of humor, Jim embarked on a career as a postal carrier. However, it was his time with US Customs that truly defined his professional journey. With 33 years of dedicated service, Jim retired in 1988, leaving a legacy of hard work and a knack for delivering smiles.
When he wasn't busy making people laugh, Jim found joy in life's simple pleasures. He had a need for speed, enjoying motorcycle riding, and could swing a mean golf club. Traveling was another passion of his, always seeking new adventures. But above all, Jim cherished spending quality time with his loved ones, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
Jim's quick wit and infectious charm will forever be remembered and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we bid farewell, let's celebrate his remarkable life with laughter and joy, knowing that he would want nothing less.
In honor of Jim, a playful celebration of his life will be held on October 7th, 2023 11:00AM at the American Legion Post 66 in Sahuarita, AZ.
