Joseph John Rizzo Jr. was born on July 11, 1932 in Waterloo, Iowa to Joseph John Rizzo Sr. and Wanda Rosemond (Young) Rizzo. He passed away the morning of Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at his home in Paige.

Joe graduated from McAllen High School in 1949, he then attended Texas A&M. He joined the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After receiving his honorable discharge, he attended the University of Texas where he completed his bachelor’s degree. He went on to join the US Border Patrol, which began his lifelong career with the government. Joe later served in US Customs and DEA. He finished his career with the Texas Veterinarian Medical Examiner’s Board. On February 12, 1982, he was united in marriage to Linda Stork in Giddings. He enjoyed researching weaponry, collecting watches, fishing, and going camping/traveling in the RV. Joe was also an avid reader. The mornings were always busy as he was a member of the Elvira’s and Cardenas’s Breakfast groups. Joe loved animals and always tried to befriend them. He always looked forward to spending time with his family and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Wanda Rizzo.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Rizzo of Paige; daughters, Jennifer & Steve Funderburg of California, Jonna & Justin Hester of Colorado, Jeannine Rizzo of Houston, and Melanie McCrory of Louisiana; nine grandchildren, Nicole & Mike Hilly of California, Eric & Nicole Littlejohn of Washington, Alex Littlejohn of California, Hannah Hester of Oregon, Ethan & Sophia Hester of Oregon, Katie Hester of Colorado, Raeni Edwards of Louisiana, Jaycie Buck and fiancé Cade Courtemanche of Giddings, and Lilly Kacer of San Marcos; seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Funeral services for Joseph Rizzo Jr., 90 of Paige, Texas will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Tim Pitts officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present Friday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm for visitation.
