Richard M. Schuh, of Hanson, passed away on August 10, 2022 at the age of 73. He was the son of the late Vivian (LaMotte) and Melvin W. Schuh. 

Rich was born and raised in Worcester where he attended Burncoat Senior High School. Rich enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and he was awarded The Air Medal (Bronze Star) for his service during the Vietnam War. After he was honorably discharged he went on to attend Quinsigamond Community College. He married Louise (Yates) in 1973 and the two later settled in Hanson to raise their family.

Rich worked a lengthy career for United States Customs. He started in 1974 as a Customs Patrol Officer in Arizona, then moved to Boston as a Patrol Agent and in 1980 became a Customs Inspector, in 1984 he became a Special Agent. He retired in January of 2001 as a U.S. Customs Federal Special Agent. 

Rich had a larger than life personality. He was well-read and liked partaking in political discussions and banter. Rich enjoyed boating and being outside. He had a soft spot for all animals, especially dogs. He also enjoyed spending time in the Florida Keys with his wife Louise. Above all he most loved his family, friends, and his country.

Rich was the loving husband of almost 50 years to Louise (Yates) Schuh. Father of Allie Hodges and her husband Matt of East Milton and Mike Schuh and his significant other Shannon Green of Plymouth. Grandfather of Ben Hodges and Abby Schuh. Brother of the late David Schuh and his wife Barbara (Lindstrom) of West Boylston and Melinda Schuh Goodrich and her husband Bill of Ledyard, CT.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 30th at 2:00PM at The Lodge at Camp Kiwanee - Camp Kiwanee Rd, Hanson, MA 02341. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Neurology Research at Mass General Hospital.
